# Dojo > Dojo is a daily practice app for macOS: thirty minutes a day, one practice, and an AI sensei that learns you. Think Duolingo for anything, run by an agent. You pick a practice (Japanese, a side project, drawing, a novel, piano theory). Every day you sit for thirty minutes; while you sit, everything that isn't the practice is hidden, and the sensei decides what opens. When you stand up, the sensei writes down what happened and sets tomorrow's step. Website: https://dojo.virpo.io/ ("dojoing" is the verb). ## How a day works 1. Arrive. Dojo shows your practice, the day ("Day 12"), your belt, and today's step, already written by the sensei last time. The apps and sites this practice uses are already chosen. Press Return. A brand-new practice needs only its name; the sensei sets the first step as you sit down. 2. Sit. Thirty minutes by default. Everything else on the Mac hides and stays hidden, including apps that reopen on their own. The step sits in a small pill you can drag anywhere. Ask the sensei for anything in plain words: it opens the narrowest door that serves the practice (one page before a whole site, a site before an app) and kindly declines the rest. 3. Teaching. For a learning practice, the sensei also teaches: drills, quizzes and corrections, one thing at a time. 4. Stand up. The circle closes. On a code practice Dojo shows what you shipped (your commits, read locally). You write one line to the sensei about what got done. The sensei then reflects in the background and writes tomorrow's step. ## Belts and days in a row - Belts count finished sittings in one practice (time served, or the sensei closed the sitting because the step was done): White at 1, Yellow at 5, Orange at 10, Green at 20, Blue at 35, Purple at 50, Brown at 75, Black at 100. - Days in a row count across all practices. Missing a day resets the streak; a belt never goes down. - The ensō (brush circle) in the menu bar is empty until you have sat today; then a vermilion sun rises in it. ## Leaving - Nothing is locked. Holding "Leave" for 2.5 seconds always ends the sitting. Leaving early does not count toward a belt. ## Browsers - Chrome, Brave, Edge and Vivaldi can be kept to the practice's sites during a sitting, in a clean window; other tabs wait. macOS asks once for Automation permission. - With any other browser, the sensei opens pages in Dojo's own private browser. ## What Dojo is not - Not a Pomodoro timer: one sitting a day, not every 25 minutes. - Not a blocker you configure: there is no list to set up; the sensei decides, you ask. - Not a cage: the 2.5-second hold always works. ## Requirements - macOS 14 or later. - Claude Code (signed in) or Codex, on the same Mac. The sensei runs through them with no tools: no shell, no files. It answers with decisions that Dojo enforces. - Optional permissions: Accessibility (clicking a blurred window raises it) and Automation for Chrome-family browsers. ## Privacy - The sensei sees only what you tell it and what Dojo reports: the time left, what is open, and what you tried to open. - Commits are read locally on your Mac and never sent. ## Pricing - One membership with everything in it: $12 per month, or $96 per year ($8 a month, billed yearly). That is 40¢ a sitting at thirty sittings a month, or about 26¢ a sitting on the yearly plan if you sit every day. - No free tier and no trial. The idea: you don't pay for an app, you pay to show up. ## Built in the Dojo - From launch day on, Dojo itself is built only inside Dojo, thirty minutes a day, in public. ## Public practice pages - A member can publish a practice from Dojo to a public page at https://dojo.virpo.io/@handle/practice: the day, the belt, the days in a row, a wall of the days they sat, the next step and the path after it, and a log of sittings. It updates after each sitting. - Every number on a page is the one the member's app published.
